apart from the works of the „Global Playground“ series
shown at Altzella in last autumn and dealing with the dignity and
identity of people in media society, I am working on some more projects
at the moment.
The works of
„an Wasserflüssen B. saßen wir und weinten“
(„at the rivers of B. we sat and cried“) can be seen
at the Kunstverein Buxtehude e.V. from 21.2.2008 to 23.3.2008 (opening
on Thursday, 21.2.2008 at 7 p.m. at the Buxtehude Museum für
Regionalgeschichte und Kunst, Stavenort 2, 21614 Buxtehude, Opening
times: Tue – Fri 2.00 – 5.00 p.m., Sat and Sun 11.00
p.m. to 5.00 p.m. The introduction for the opening is held by Dr.
Julia Helmke, Ev.-luth Landeskirche Hannovers.).
These works treat the text of the psalm 137 „At the rivers
of Babylon“ and its contents of political suppression and
the therefore resulting revenge phantasies.
The original situation of the text – the Babylonian Exile
of the jews at about 500 b.c. is confronted with the actual political
situation at the same place, 2500 years later – with the Iraq
war.
The graphics and installations shown are combined with a sound installation
which uses music based on the texts the works are referring to.
Two of the works
shown could already be seen at the art festival „Arte a Full“
at Leipzig in January of 2008.
The „manga
minne“ project, whose results will be shown at the M. Beck
Gallery at Homburg/Saar, deal with diverse ideas and ideals of love
in different times and cultures.
The show can be seen from 13.4.2008 to 14.5.2008 at the M. Beck
Gallery, Schwedenhof, Am Römermuseum, 66424 Homburg/Saar, open
Thu – Fri 4.00 to 8.00 p.m., Sun 4.00 to 6.00 p.m., tel: +49
700 26632325, www.galerie-monika-beck.de.
At the 1st of
March, the show „fremdvertraut vertrautfremd“ (with
the Berlin artist Heike Lydia Grüß) is opened at the
Städtisches Museum Eisenhüttenstadt. Dr. Lars Allolio-Näcke
will hold the opening speech.
The show can be seen from 1.3.2008 to 31.3.2008 at the Gallery of
the Städtisches Museum Eisenhüttenstadt, Löwenstr.4,
15890 Eisenhüttenstadt, open Tue – Fri 10.00 a.m. to
4.00 p.m., Sat and Sun 1.00 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Further, I am
planning a solo show at the Statal Museum for City Sculpture at
St.Petersburg, Russia, in September/October 2008.
